The balaclava protects body parts that are normally exposed in a protective clothing system. The garment is conforming to specific EN standards, such as Flame Resistance, Antistatic or Electric Arc.
Woolpower Protection 400 has been created for professional use in challenging environments. It is certified in accordance with specific EN standards for flame protection, antistatic and electric arc protection. Wool itself is flame retardant and doesn’t melt, which prevents serious burn injuries. For maximum protection we recommend that you use a complete undergarment set together with other certified outer layers.
Woolpower Protection 400 is our thickest fabric in the Protection range. It is good for colder conditions or when you don’t plan to move about too much. By wearing Woolpower directly against your skin you’ll benefit most from merino wool’s qualities.
The Balaclava Protection 400 has an opening that can be adjusted to cover up your whole face apart from your eyes. The lower part of the opening can also be pulled down under your nose or chin. While it keeps you warm, the wool’s unique characteristics also let excess heat out.
Wool is nature’s own functional fabric and so far, no man-made fibres have been able to replicate all the unique qualities of wool. It keeps you dry if you get wet as the wool can absorb up to 30 per cent of its own weight in moisture without even feeling damp. But if you really get wet, the balaclava keeps you warm anyway. It’s because of a chemical process within the wool called absorption heat. Woolpower also has a self-cleaning effect and doesn’t smell bad if you’ve been sweating.
