The TSSI Shirt features 4 pockets; two bellowed chest pockets, and two sleeve pockets. They all feature hook and loop closures for quick and easy access with the sleeve pockets also having concealed snag proof button flaps and button closures. Also, the shirt has elbow reinforcements, three button cuffs and a pellon reinforced collar.
Seam specification is 10 – 12 stitches per inch (SPI) including the lock stitch, chain stitch, felled seams, safety and serge seams; Key buttonhole - 52 SPI, Bar-tacks - 28 SPI.
The sleeves have elbow patches that are set 8 .” – 12 .” (depending on size) down from the shoulder seam. The patch is set with a double-needle lockstitch. The cuff is made of a button tab that is joined in the close sleeve felled seam operation and set toward the front with a finished measurement of 2 5/8” wide and 7” in length. The tab is set with a 1/8” margin and sewn in a box stitch, there is 2 1/2” of the tab that is top stitched with a 1/4” margin and back-tacked at the beginning and end. The buttonhole is centered and set 3/4” from the point of the tab. There are two bar-tacks one at the end of each stitch line of the box stitch and one at the
end of the felled seam sleeve edge. The cuff has a three button construction with a 2 1/2” single-needle topstitching. The first button is directly on the front of the sleeve under the key buttonhole. The remaining two buttons are centered between the back sleeves 2 1/2” single-needle hem. The second button is spaced 1” past the closing felled-seam and the last button spaced another 1 1/2” away from the second button. The sleeves shall each have a slanted pocket and flap attached below the shoulder seam and slanted to the front for easy access.
The placket has a 2 .” hidden panel with four key buttonholes that is serged to the wearer’s left front panel. It is set with two single-needle topstitching seams 1 3/4” apart with the first .” from the front edge. The panel finishes 14” in length by 2 1/8” in width, is set 5 .” down from the top edge of the placket and 1/16” from the front edge. The first buttonhole is placed .” from the opening placket edge and 1” down from the top edge of the placket. The remaining buttonholes are enclosed in the hidden placket with the first hidden buttonhole measuring 1” from the top edge of the hidden panel, the last buttonhole measuring 1” from the bottom edge of the panel. The remaining two are spaced with equal distance between the two buttonholes.
The panel has three bar-tacks placed over the topstitching of the front edge of the placket at the top and bottom of the panel and one bar-tack centered in the middle. There are five buttons attached to the wearer’s right front that are aligned with the buttonhole placement of the wearer’s left front.
The collar is of one-piece fabric with pellon reinforcement, made with a .” seam margin, turned and topstitched with a .” margin. It is set with a 3/8” seam margin and closed with 1/16” topstitch. The finished measurement is 2 3/4” at the center back with 2 .” collar tips. The collar has a buttonhole on the wearer’s left tip and a button under the wearer’s right tip so the collar can be worn as a stand up collar to keep out debris.
Pockets / Flaps
The chest pocket flaps are made of one-piece construction with a .” top stitching and have heavy reinforced pellon in the outer side of the panel. The finished measurements are 5 .” in width X 2 .” in length. The flaps are of one-piece construction with a .” top stitch, serged, set with a single-needle, then turned and single needle topstitched with a .” margin. The flaps have 1” wide loop closures extending the width of the flap. The flap is placed 8” down from the high point of the shoulder and 2” from the center of the placket. The wearer’s left pocket flap has a 1 1/2” pencil opening centered in the top of the flap and has a vertical bartack on each side of the pencil opening. Also, there is a bar-tack over the topstitching on both sides by both edges of the flap. There shall be a 5 3/4” x 1” loop tape centered .” above the chest pocket flap and set with a 1/8” topstitch on all sides.
The chest pocket is of one-piece construction and has a 1” hem at the top, with a 1” bellow that has a seam in the center made with a single-needle lockstitch, 1/16” seam margin on the inside of the bellow. The pocket measures 5 1/2” in width and 6” in length. The pocket is attached with a single needle 1/16” seam margin
centered 1” under the flap and has two bar-tacks at both top corners over the topstitch. The hook closures measure 5 1/4” X 1”, centered 1/8” from the pocket edge. The sleeve pockets will be bellows type pockets with flap with a stitched drainhole at the base of the bellows. The sleeve pocket is of one-piece construction and has a 1” hem at the top, with 1” bellows with a stitch line
in the middle taken from the inside of the pocket, on the side-seam and bottom edge of the sleeve pocket and has a 1/16” topstitch seam margin. The top pocket measures 5 .” in width and 6 .” in length. The pocket is attached with a single-needle 1/16” seam margin centered .” under the flap and has two bar-tacks at both top corners. There are two buttons on the pocket centered in the hem and aligned with the buttonholes on the flaps. The pocket has a 2 .” x 1” hook fastener tape centered between the two buttons. The pockets shall have bartacks at the top corners and the front lower corner for extra strength at stress points. The pocket flap has two hidden key buttonholes placed 1 .” from the edge of the inside edge and centered in the bottom flap. The sleeve pocket flaps shall have loop fastener tape centered between the two buttonholes and measuring 2 1/4” x 1”. The flaps shall have bartacks at the top corners over the topstitching. There shall be a 3” x 2” loop tape centered directly above the sleeve pocket flap and set with a 1/8” topstitch on all sides.
Side / Shoulder / Sleeve Seams
Sideseam, shoulder seam and sleeve seams shall be of double needle felled seam construction. Hem Bottom The hem measures .” with a 1/16” seam margin and made with a single-needle lock stitch. The hem is designed so the shirt can be worn tucked or untucked. Insignia/Badge Loop The shirt shall have a 1 .” wide x 4 5/8” pointed insignia tab set to the front. It shall have a single row of .” topstitch. It shall be set, folded down and topstitched to the front centered in the placket and even with the pocket flaps with the point extending downward. It shall have a 3” x 1” loop attached to the underside and centered. The front placket shall have a 3” x 1” hook fastener tape attached and aligned with the loop tape on the insignia tab.
Packing / Labeling
The garment will have labels with the manufacturers’ country of origin, size, fiber content, care instructions and cut/date label. Packing (pending on customer) shall have TRU_SPEC hang tags , clear poly bag and Tru-Spec boxes.
