Keeping the bolt clean is a must for an AR 15; this tool does a nice job getting at hard to clean places on the bolt (e.g. bolt tube).

You can feel the scraper making contact with the carbon as long as you put a little elbow into it. You can clean out your bolt carrier and firing pin in minutes. Definitely recommend purchasing one.
